On Wednesday 13th July the APPG held its annual AGM to re-elect officers. To make the most of the opportunity we also decided to hold a roundtable discussion on the recent High Level Meeting in New York with the outgoing Minister Baroness Verma, STOPAIDS, AIDS Alliance, Harm Reduction International and members of the APPG.
Sir Richard Feacham, former Executive Director to the Global Fund accompanied the current Executive Director, Mark Dybul in a joint APPG meeting to discuss with Parliamentarians the importance of the Global Fund’s work. The meeting was a great success, with representatives from key civil society organisations such as STOPAIDS, Results UK and Malaria No More. Most Parliamentarians, by the end of the meeting were in agreement that the UK should pledge £1.2 billion to the Global Fund, now we need to ensure that this message reaches the Government.
On Wednesday 11th May Vice Chair of the APPG Stephen Doughty MP hosted the launch of the HIV Stigma Index UK report. The report was the culmination of 2 years of research and collaboration between Public Health England and the HIV sector lead by the FPA. The APPG formed part of the advisory group to the report and was very pleased to launch it in Parliament last week.

On 22nd March members of the APPG met with the former President of Botswana, His Excellency Mr Festus Moghae to discuss the future of the AIDS response, how we can create sustainability for HIV in the current ODA environment and the role of the UK in ending AIDS by 2030.
